Barney’s Story

As related to Lady Samal and Lord Thomas & Co at Witch’s End

“So the story goes, many, many centuries ago there was once an idyllic village here in the woods. A small human community, it existed in peace and seclusion living in harmony with the Earth Mother.

Then something came upon the place, an unknown evil which turned the inhabitants from the worship of Mother Earth and into the arms of evil. They became corrupted and turned to black magic and witchcraft.

Then it is said that one of the troll raids that sweep through here regularly came to hear of the place, or maybe just stumbled upon it. The black witches of the wood were slaughtered and their once-idyllic village was destroyed. Only the standing stones, symbol of the long-forgotten Earth worshippers, remain, but defaced by the trolls to mark their victory.

Years later the village of Witch’s End was founded as the area had decent land that was unused, but maybe something of the old evil remains here because the village does not thrive and never really has.”
